Chesapeake Light Craft has finally jumped on the low volume bandwagon! I am impressed with the Shearwater so far! What a beautiful Greenlandish style and clean lines. I haven't paddled it yet but I am sure I will have a chance in the near future.
Here are the specs for the three boats:
Shearwater 17: 17' x 22 1/4" x 44lbs Cockpit 31" x 16 3/8"For people 150-220 lbs; 5-'*8" to 6'-3" Max inseam 36, Max mens shoe 12 1/2
Shearwater 16: 16'-1 3/4" x 21 1/8" x 42lbs Cockpit 25" x 15 1/2"For people 120-190 lbs; 5'-2" to 5'-10' Max inseam 34, Max mens shoe 10
Shearwater 14: 14'-6 3/8 x 21 1/8 x 39lbs Cockpit 26 1/2"x 15 1/2"For people 100-150 lbs; 4'-8" to 5'-4" Max inseam 30, Max mens shoe 10
I built a CLC Patuxent 19.5 in 2000. It was a fairly easy build. After completing one off of plans, I would go with the kit next time. The kit for the Shearwater runs about $999.
Very cool boat! Way to go, CLC!
